Mark Your Calendar!  June 22, 2007 6-8pm  Rain or Shine - Members are invited to join together at the Stonehouse Museum for a social 2 hours.  Bring your favorite cocktail snack and a wine glass if possible.  This is a great opportnity to meet and greet old friends and new.

The beautifully manicured lawn, the Remembrance Garden in full bloom and flowering bushes on the Stone House grounds were once again the setting for the Member’s Cocktail Party. Prepared to defy any rain showers from interfering with the event, the Membership Committee had three tents set up.

Seventy plus members attended and brought many savory and sweet appetizers. Many of our newest members attended and had a chance to mingle and enjoy the evening. Our bartender and member Rick Burkhardt kept everyone happy during the course of the evening. Music was provided by high school docent Liz Racine, and Jack B. Curry Jr. challenged the members to some Civil War Trivia.

Event Chair Carol Mierzewski entertained the crowd with “Our Town—Belchertown”, a litany of other town names in the country, which affirmed that Belchertown is not such a weird name and that there is only one. This was the debut for our new T-shirts which read “only one…Belchertown”. They will be available Fair Day and at Yuletide.

The winners of the appetizer contest were: 1st prize to Marianne Gambaro for her Paprika Shrimp Dish; 2nd and 3rd, Tish Poulter for her Artichoke Dip (won last year also) and Joanne Newman for her Strawberry-Chocolate Tarts. New member Andy Inglot won the living wreath crafted by Annie Maziarz; and Dot Carmody won the floral arrangement done by Susan Kozak.

It was a fun time and the Membership Committee hopes to make next years even better!
