Randi Shenkman will share our wonderful collection of patriotic and recruiting posters.
On April 6, 1917, the United States finally declared war on Germany.  Europe had been at war for almost three years and the US had resisted getting involved, but by this time, it was not possible to do so any further.  President Wilson told America and by extension, Belchertown, that we had to “…make the world safe for democracy.”
